Martin Beach:
A Biography

While living and going to school along the Pacific Coast, I spent most my life engaged in computer science and mathematics. In my junior year at the Evergreen State College in Olympia Washington, I had switched to a visual arts education. During the middle of my senior year I was, by chance, introduced to stone as an art medium by a professor. After graduating with a BA in the summer of 2010, I moved to Indiana to be closer to family and to find employment working with stone. In the spring and fall of 2011, I had found work as a studio assistant for local Bloomington sculptor, Dale Enochs. Taking much of what I learned from Dale, I have continued on my own occasionally putting on shows all the while doing landscaping to fund my exploration of stonework.
